As you may know, I already have provided you with a kitten fact sheet which can also be found on the 'kittens' page:

This is additional content that I would've liked to have known before I got my first cat!

Introducing a ferocious cat to a new kitten

We had owned our lovely moggy cat Teddy for over a decade when we were given the devastating news that he had chronic kidney disease. Teddy had been found wandering the streets of a very rough are of Kent and picked up by Cats Protection.

He was always very friendly to humans and but was very ferocious towards other cats, and was so brave he used to even chase foxes many times his size.

However he was always very loyal towards us, and therefore we were confident that he would not dare to upset us by massacring a new kitten inside our house.

True to form, when Lola arrived, he did no more than chase her, when her incessant playing got on his nerves. This, in spite of all the sacrifices he had to make, like no longer being an only cat and having the cat flap shut one way.

We think, therefore, that the key to invoking this type of loyalty in a cat is to treat them with uttermost respect and give them a lot to of love attention from the outset. You would probably find that the favours are invariably returned alley might vary dependent on the nature of the cat.

The great outdoors

We have many cats including entire males but they are without exception all very gentle and loving and have excellent temperaments and get on well with eoch other. Their temperaments can be confirmed through any of our show cats published show reports.

We believe that a key part of this is exposing them to as many different environments as possible.

The garden (cat proofed of course) plays a huge part in keeping our cats stimulated and we make sure that they all take it in turns to be exposed to the different sights, sounds and smells it offers. We even sit out with them in garden in the dark when days are shorter if necessary.
